My father served aboard the Maryland and was there on Dec. 7, 1941 He was a GM 1st class in 6-B Division stationed on gun 3 that morning. Stanley Gruber is his name and he's doing fine. He and my mother are planning to attend the 60th reunion in Hawaii this year. I am writing this in hopes of hearing from any shipmates that know my dad or have any specific recolections of him during that period.

Thank you and I'm proud of all you gentleman!

Even better news today Maryland fans.Marianne Bamm wrote me and asked about a Maryland kit. I recently saw one for sale on ebay so I contacted the company call Nauticus Models. It turns out the owner or this mail order model ship company is a friend of mine. He is based out of the Boston area and says he will try and keep 1/700 scale models of the Maryland availible for you vets. He can be reached at:

This kit will measure about 8 inches long and is cast as she looked Dec 1941. Take Care!!!!!!

If anyone knows where to get a moderately-sized (around 1 to 2 feet long) model of the "Big Mary" how she looked in 1940 or 1941, please Email me. Thank you very much.

Hey Guys,
For a model of the Maryland I have two sources for you.
One is Pacific Front hobbies who have a 1/700 scale (about 10" long) Maryland model with dual cage masts. For those more handy, Battlers Connection has a 52" hull which can be built into an RC model. Great project to do for the grand kids.

I am looking for a scale model of the Maryland as she looked in 44 to 46. Would anyone have any information as to where I could purchase such a model? I have seen the outstanding brass model that one of the crewmembers did. I am not talking about anything that ornate. I am looking for one that can be ordered and put together. It doesn't matter if it is wood or plastic. Thanks in advance for any help that you may offer.
