Travis Bates, I wish I could tell you something! I am researching Iowa class battleships and it has reminded me of my Dad, JOHN OBLUCK who was a Marine gunner on the Maryland when a kamikazee took out the twin 40 gun mount on the other side of the ship. He was a Marine aboard the Maryland and I believe he operated a anti-aricraft gun. He came aboard in early 1944 and served during some/most of the big battles in the South Pacific. He died last March and our family knew very little of his service since he was very tight-lipped about anything that happened. We do know that the ship was hit by two Kamikazees while he was aboard. Does anyone remember him? He was about 6'2" tall and from Ohio. Thanks for any information! A Proud Grandson. Add a Message This is a public posting area.
