My father, Clyde L. McElroy, fought aboard the USS Maryland from June 1943 to September 1945. He got on the ship in the Fiji Islands. The ship was hit three times while he was aboard, once by torpedo and twice by kamakaze missions. He received six battlestars, one for each invasion the ship supported.

If anyone remembers my daddy, I would so much appreciate a note. Pictures would be invaluable to me. He passed away this past Thursday, October 21, 2004. He was a wonderful man who left a legacy of love, honor, and pride in our great country to his six children, sixteen grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. I would very much appreciate hearing from anyone who knew him. Thanks

Hello Veteran's and God Bless each of you.

I live on Camano Island on the Sound in Washington. I have met a little old lady who works at a local store. She talks about an old boyfriend that was on the USS MARYLAND during Pearl Harbor. She does not know if he survived. She has never heard from him since he left on the Ship. She would just like to know if he survived and what happened to him. His name is Don Reed. That's all I know so if anyone has a ship roster and can let me know I would love to pass on the info. Thank you so much.

Ihave an album of pictures and correspondance which probably belonged to SF2/C Floyd Pollock. This is from 1923 through V-J Day. It includes the 1925 Pacific tour. Lots of personal snaps of crew members on deck and off, as well as pictures of the ship itself. If there are any family members or close friends who would like to have this album, please let me know at

My name is Daniel Keyser and am writting a fictional historical story about World War II. I am a student a UMUC in Maryland. My history professor has asked us to write a paper on the war. I have chosen to be a enlisted Navy person of that time(which is mostly true since I serve 4 years on the USS Enterprise). What I would like of any USS Maryland service member is permission to use your name or a family member's name in my paper. If you have any stories I could include in my paper, I would greatly appreciate it.

My dad, Hubert Charles Ragan, Jr. ("Ray") was an enlisted man on the USS Maryland when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. (Later he was transferred to the USS North Carolina.) I know very little about his time aboard the Maryland because my parents divorced when I was quite young and I lost touch with him. He died in 1988.

If there are any of his former shipmates who remember my dad, I would very much like to hear from them.

My Grandfather, Harvey Volkers, served in the Navy and was aboard the USS Maryland. He recently passed away and I was not able to receive all of the information about his voyages so to say, and his life or any sailors' lives while aboard the Maryland. I am writing a research paper and if anyone could give me information on tasks completed and hardships dealt with i would be very much abliged. If anyone has any information that would helpful to me, please write me back on my yahoo mail as soon as possible.

Thanks

PS If anyone knew him, write me anyways.
