I have now found there were 40mm twins on the Maryland from 1943 on. There were one on each side just aft of the conning tower replaceing the 1.1 guns.

I've never seen the reference,and checked stuff I have and only found quad 40's Where did you find your reference??? I'd love to know. I am researching the Maryland her diplacement at different times in her career and would love new references. Please write me.

Dear Crewmen, I have seen reference to at least one Twin 40mm AA mount in several books. But it does not give a location. My father never mentioned it, not that he would have anyway due to his station on the 5" DP guns, 5th Div.. God Bless, Son of a Sailor, Brad Williams
