my father howard hooper was aboard the maryland from 1-11-42 to 12-44. his service records indicate that he participated with credit, occupation of the Gilbert Islands by U.S. Forces november 1943. and operations for the capture and occupation of the Marshall Islands, January and february 1944. if any one who served on the maryland knew him please contact me. his last grade was EM3c.
